Yeoman Shield
Yeoman Shield Hits the spot in wall and door protection!
In 1966, the company was born with the sole purpose of introducing extruded uPVC crash rails to the market. Now, over 40 years on, 30+ colours are available from stock in more than 20 different shaped extrusions. All are designed with the primary purpose of preventing damage and saving the need of costly repair and redecoration.
Damage to walls, doors and corners is inevitable in any workplace or public building from high pedestrian footfall, wheeled equipment and beds, supermarket trolleys and industrial trolleys and trucks. Yeoman Shield wall and door protection is used by many public and corporate buildings such as hospitals, schools, leisure centres, supermarkets, airports, hotels and offices to combat this problem and ensure that interiors maintain a professional, smart and clean appearance.
The design led systems are fitted to walls and doors to protect the interior décor from unsightly dents, scratches and scuffs. An imaginative use of colour often leads to functional handrails, protection rails and corner angles being incorporated as an integral element of internal décor as demonstrated at Cork based Midleton Community Hospital.
Following a site survey, Yeoman Shield recommended Guardian Handrails for the hospital lifts and corridor walls, which are vulnerable to damage from passing pedestrians, wheelchairs and wheeled hospital equipment.
The bright orange handrail with colour contrasting white stop ends meets the Disability Discrimination Act by helping the visually impaired to distinguish walls from doors. The rounded grip top also acts as a re-assuring support for elderly and less agile patients and visitors.
Orange Corner Protection Angles have also been fitted to prevent unsightly and expensive damage to the corner of walls in the lift lobby areas.
Mary Troy, Director of Nursing at Midleton Community Hospital, said: “Yeoman Shield has worked brilliantly and transformed the whole ‘look’ of the ground floor area. It’s great to see the patients, who are mainly elderly (including patients suffering from Alzheimer’s disease), using the handrails, which are proving a great aid to their mobility.”
Yeoman Shield wall and door protection panels are also a popular choice for preventing unsightly damage at varying heights as demonstrated at Dublin Bus’ Harristown Garage Depot where wall panels have been installed to protect the busy main reception and canteen area and help to conceal the effects of impact and abrasion.
Yeoman Shield 200mm Protection Rail and Corner Angles have also been fitted to walls in the canteen area and act as an effective deterrent against damage caused by a high footflow of staff and wheeled equipment, such as canteen trolleys.
